Mendon-based Autonomous Solutions Inc. received a $225 million investment from SoftBank Group. The companies also formed a separately capitalized joint venture to develop and commercialize autonomous construction equipment for large infrastructure projects; the amount invested in the joint venture was not disclosed.
TECHNOLOGY · M&A
Progress Software completed its $400 million purchase of substantially all the assets of Domo’s AI and data-platform business and assumed certain liabilities. The remaining public company changed its name to Huckleberry.ai and began trading under the symbol HUCK.
SPACE · RESEARCH COMMERCIALIZATION
Advanced Space selected Utah State University’s Space Dynamics Laboratory to provide two flight-qualified Iris Radios and related communications, navigation and timekeeping technology for NASA’s CAPSTONE 02 mission. Launch is targeted for late 2027.
WATER POLICY · GREAT SALT LAKE
Utah resolved a decades-old dispute with the federal government involving land near the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge. The agreement transfers 22,311 surface acres to the federal government and provides Utah with $60 million in four payments over 26 months.
ECONOMIC POLICY · CAPITAL
Gov. Spencer Cox recommended 37 of Utah’s 147 federally eligible census tracts for designation under the revised federal Opportunity Zone program. The recommendations include 27 urban and 10 rural tracts.
DEFENSE · AUTONOMOUS SYSTEMS
Bluffdale-based Vector announced that it was selected as a top-performing competitor in the federal Drone Dominance Program and is scheduled to receive orders for up to 5,000 unmanned systems. The company also received orders for its high-voltage electronic safe-and-arm device and says an initial Phase II order is already in hand.
AI INFRASTRUCTURE · ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Meta announced another expansion of its Eagle Mountain data-center campus, bringing its total Utah investment above $3 billion. The company says the project will support more than 1,200 construction workers at peak and more than 300 data-center jobs once the expansion is complete.
LIFE SCIENCES · REGULATORY
Salt Lake City-based PolarityBio announced that the FDA accepted its Biologics License Application for SkinTE and granted Priority Review, setting a March 16, 2027 target action date. The filing is supported by a 120-patient Phase III trial that the company says met its primary endpoint of complete wound closure within 12 weeks.

Midvale-based Bamboo Insurance set terms for a proposed New York Stock Exchange listing under the symbol BMB. Selling shareholders are offering 35 million shares at an expected price of $18 to $20, implying proceeds of up to $700 million and a potential valuation above $3 billion.
CYBERSECURITY · AI GOVERNANCE
Lehi-based DigiCert released AI Trust Manager for general availability on September 15. The system is designed to discover AI agents inside an organization, assign portable cryptographic identities, connect each agent to an accountable owner, define its authorized activities and revoke its credentials when trust changes.
CRITICAL MINERALS · RURAL ECONOMY
On September 9, USDA awarded a $25 million loan guarantee supporting Milford Mining’s copper mining and processing operation in Beaver County. USDA expects the investment to generate approximately 100 jobs. The financing comes through its Business and Industry Guaranteed Loan Program in partnership with Magnolia Bank.
WORKFORCE · HIGHER EDUCATION
On September 9, Utah’s eight technical colleges presented strategic reinvestment plans involving the reallocation of 5 percent of their budgets. USHE reports that approximately 90 percent of the reinvested resources will return to instruction and high-demand workforce programs, including AI-adapted technology programs, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, construction and rural emergency-response training.
